Women in engineering, mining, laboratory and technology roles are often the only one in the room, and the obstacles they meet are structural rather than a deficit in their technical ability. This course addresses both the structure and what can be done inside it. Delegates work through establishing technical credibility and having it stick, being heard in review meetings and design discussions, and claiming authorship of work that gets attributed elsewhere. Site and field environments receive specific attention, including safety, facilities and the practical realities of working away from base. Progression into technical leadership is covered. The course closes on building a professional network and on deciding when to challenge and when to route around.
