Women in LeadershipWomen in Mining: Working and Progressing on Site
Mining employs women in growing numbers into an industry whose sites, equipment, shift patterns and crews were built around the assumption that nobody working there would be a woman. This course deals with that as it actually is. Delegates work through the statutory position including the provisions that apply specifically to women, equipment and protective clothing designed for a different body and what can be demanded of an employer, and the practical realities of underground facilities, rotation and remote accommodation. Establishing authority with a crew is covered directly, including the first weeks in a supervisory role. Harassment and the reporting routes that function on an isolated site are addressed. The course closes on the career paths that exist and how people actually move along them.
