Women in Energy and Power: Career and Leadership Pathways

Utilities and generators promote from a pool shaped by who was given plant exposure, outage duty and control room time early in their career, and those allocations are made informally long before anybody applies for a role. This programme addresses the allocation as well as the ambition. Delegates map the routes into senior technical and commercial roles across generation, transmission, distribution and independent power, and identify which operational experience each route assumes. Building credibility with plant and field teams is covered directly. Asking for and securing outage, commissioning and shift exposure is practised, including the case to put to a manager. Licensing, statutory appointment and the qualifications that gate progression are addressed. Moving between technical, regulatory and commercial roles is covered. Sponsorship inside a utility hierarchy follows. The programme closes on sector networks, on the first supervisory appointment and on staying visible while posted to a remote station.
