A warehouse either absorbs variability for the rest of the supply chain or transmits it, and which one it does is decided by layout, process discipline and measurement. This course covers running one well. Delegates work through receiving, putaway, storage, picking, packing and dispatch as a connected flow rather than as departments, layout and slotting against the actual movement profile, and the labour planning that matches people to a demand pattern that is never flat. Equipment selection and utilisation are covered, along with performance measurement and the trade offs between throughput, accuracy and cost. The course closes on identifying the constraint that is actually limiting the operation.
