SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain

Planning systems fail on adoption rather than on functionality: the plan is produced, the planners keep their spreadsheet, and the two diverge until nobody trusts either. This course works on both the configuration and the adoption. Delegates work through the planning model, including planning areas, key figures and the time and product hierarchies everything else depends on. Demand planning follows, covering statistical forecasting, the models available and choosing one rather than accepting a default. Forecast error measurement and improving it deliberately are covered. Supply planning is addressed, including constrained and unconstrained runs and reading why a plan is infeasible. Inventory optimisation and multi stage safety stock follow. Sales and operations planning is covered as the process the system supports rather than replaces. Alerts, exception management and the discipline that keeps a planner acting on them follow. The course closes on integration with the execution system and on running a planning cycle end to end.

Course objectives

  • Build a planning model with planning areas, key figures and hierarchies
  • Run statistical forecasting and select models deliberately
  • Measure forecast error and improve it over cycles
  • Execute constrained and unconstrained supply planning
  • Diagnose why a supply plan is infeasible
  • Apply inventory optimisation and multi stage safety stock
  • Support a sales and operations planning cycle and integrate with execution

Who should attend

  • Demand and supply planners
  • Supply chain analysts and planning managers
  • SAP supply chain consultants
  • Sales and operations planning process owners
  • Inventory managers responsible for stock targets
