Rolling Forecasts and Driver Based Budgeting

This short, hands on course moves finance teams away from rigid annual budgets toward rolling forecasts and driver based models that respond to volatile commodity prices, exchange rates, and demand swings typical across African markets. Delegates build a working driver based model in spreadsheet form and practise updating forecasts on a monthly cadence. The focus is speed and accuracy of decision support rather than budget book production.

Course objectives

  • Distinguish rolling forecasts from static annual budgets and identify when each applies
  • Identify and model the key business drivers behind revenue and cost lines
  • Build a driver based forecasting model that updates efficiently each month
  • Incorporate exchange rate and commodity price sensitivity into forecasts
  • Communicate rolling forecast outputs to management for faster decisions

Who should attend
