Health, Safety and SecurityPermit to Work and Energy Isolation
A permit to work is the document that stands between a maintenance team and a live system, and permits fail through familiarity, time pressure and signatures given by people who did not go and look. This course covers running the system properly. Delegates work through permit types and when each applies, the roles of issuer, acceptor and area authority, and the hazard identification that must precede a permit rather than accompany it. Energy isolation is covered in full: identifying every energy source, isolation, locking, tagging and proving dead. Cross discipline and simultaneous operations are addressed. The course closes on handback, on permit audit, and on the common failures that appear in incident reports.
