Maintenance ManagementMaintenance Budgeting and Cost Control
Maintenance budgets are cut in the year they are needed least and overspent in the year the consequences arrive, because the relationship between spend and asset condition is rarely made visible. This course makes it visible. Delegates work through cost structure across labour, materials, contractors and overheads, zero based and activity based approaches to building a budget, and estimating from a maintenance plan rather than from last year plus a percentage. Capital against operating classification is covered, since it changes both tax and reported profit. Variance analysis and forecasting follow. Deferred maintenance and its accumulating cost are addressed directly. The course closes on defending a maintenance budget to a finance function.
