Transport is usually the largest controllable cost in a supply chain and the one where a small planning improvement produces a disproportionate saving. This course covers managing it. Delegates work through mode selection and its trade offs, network design and the location decisions that determine most transport cost before any route is planned, and routing and scheduling against real constraints. Carrier selection, contracting and rate structures are covered, along with the measurement of cost per unit delivered rather than cost per trip. The course addresses African transport realities directly: road condition, border delay, security and the buffer these genuinely require.
