Health, Safety and SecurityLegal Liability for Managers and Supervisors
Health and safety law places duties on named individuals, and a supervisor who signs a permit or accepts a job as safe is exercising a legal duty whether or not anybody told them so. This course makes those duties explicit. Delegates work through the statutory framework and the general duties it imposes on employers, managers and employees, the appointment structure and what a written appointment actually transfers, and the standard of care expected of a reasonable manager. Delegation, supervision and the limits of both are covered. Inspections, notices and the consequences of non compliance follow. The course closes on what happens after a serious incident: investigation, inquiry, prosecution and personal liability.
