Procurement and MaterialsInternational Sourcing and Import Procurement
Buying across a border adds currency, shipping, duty, documentation and a supplier you cannot visit, and each of those turns a good unit price into a poor landed cost. This course covers managing them. Delegates work through supplier identification and qualification at distance, incoterms and exactly where cost and risk transfer, and landed cost calculation including freight, duty, clearing and finance cost. Payment instruments are covered, from open account through documentary collection to letters of credit, with the protection each gives. Documentation and clearance requirements follow. Quality assurance and inspection before shipment are addressed. The course closes on lead time, buffer stock and managing a supplier you will rarely meet.
