Tax and LegalInsurance Law and Regulation
Insurance is a promise to pay in circumstances defined by a document nobody reads until the loss has happened, and most disputes turn on disclosure, exclusions or a condition breached long before the claim. This course covers that ground. Delegates work through the formation of an insurance contract, insurable interest and utmost good faith, and the disclosure duty and its consequences. Policy interpretation is covered, including exclusions, warranties and conditions precedent. Claims handling and repudiation follow, along with the grounds that will and will not hold. Intermediaries, their duties and their liability are addressed. Regulation of insurers and conduct requirements are covered. The course closes on dispute resolution and the ombud process.
