Governance, Ethics and Stakeholder Accountability

Good governance is judged as much by organisational culture and stakeholder trust as by compliance checklists. This course moves beyond the mechanics of boards and committees to examine how ethics codes, whistleblowing systems and environmental, social and governance reporting shape reputation and long term license to operate. Participants work through dilemmas drawn from state owned enterprises, family businesses and listed companies operating across multiple African jurisdictions.

Course objectives

  • Distinguish compliance based governance from values based ethical leadership
  • Design and embed a code of ethics and whistleblowing framework that people actually use
  • Map key stakeholder groups and build accountability mechanisms for each
  • Prepare governance disclosures aligned to environmental, social and governance reporting expectations
  • Respond to ethical dilemmas and conflicts of interest using a defensible decision framework
