Project and ContractContract Risk, Insurance and Indemnities
Indemnity, liability and insurance clauses decide who pays when something goes badly wrong, and they are routinely accepted without anybody working out what they mean. This course covers reading and negotiating them. Delegates work through risk allocation as a commercial decision, the main liability provisions including caps, exclusions of consequential loss and knock for knock, and indemnities and how far they actually reach. Insurance is covered practically: the policies commonly required, what each does and does not respond to, and verifying that a certificate reflects the cover required. The course closes on the gap between the contractual requirement and the policy actually held.
