Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

Continuity plans are commonly written for a fire and then tested against a spreadsheet, which is why so many fail on their first real use during a ransomware event or a prolonged power failure. This course covers building plans that hold. Delegates work through business impact analysis and the recovery objectives it produces, threat scenarios relevant to African operations including power, connectivity and civil disruption, and strategy selection against those objectives. Technical recovery is covered: backup design, immutability, restoration testing and the recovery sequence. Crisis management, communication and decision authority follow. The course closes on exercising a plan realistically and on maintaining it as the organisation changes.

  • Exercise a plan realistically and maintain it as things change
