Drilling and Reservoir EngineeringWell Cementing Design and Operations
Sustained casing pressure on an old well can usually be traced back to the primary cement job: a channel left by poor centralisation, a slurry that gelled before it was placed, a spacer that never cleaned off the mud cake. Delegates study cement chemistry and API classes, additives for density, thickening time, fluid loss and gas migration, and the laboratory tests that prove a design. Placement is then engineered: centraliser spacing, displacement efficiency, spacer and wash design, pressures during pumping and job simulation. Liner, stage, squeeze and plug jobs are covered alongside foamed and lightweight systems. Evaluation with CBL, VDL and ultrasonic logs closes the programme. Delegates leave able to design a slurry and job plan, supervise placement and judge whether zonal isolation was achieved.
