Vehicle Inspection, Roadworthiness and Compliance

An operator is responsible for the condition of every vehicle it puts on the road, and after a serious crash the question is not whether the vehicle passed a test last year but what the operator knew and did. This course covers meeting that standard. Delegates work through the legal framework governing vehicle fitness, operator responsibility and driver duty. Daily driver checks are addressed as the control that actually finds faults, including how to make a check something other than a signature. Defect reporting and rectification follow, with the loop that must close before a vehicle returns to service. Periodic inspection is covered in detail: brakes, steering, suspension, tyres, lights, coupling equipment and structure, with the defect standards applied. Load security and dimensions are addressed. Documentation is covered, including inspection records, maintenance history and the evidence an investigator will ask for. Roadside enforcement and prohibition are addressed. The course closes on managing a fleet's compliance position and on the accountability a serious incident brings.
