Maintenance ManagementValue Stream Mapping
Most improvement effort is spent making individual steps faster inside a process where the material or the paperwork spends the overwhelming majority of its time waiting between steps. Value stream mapping makes that visible. Delegates work through selecting a product or service family and walking the flow rather than mapping it from a meeting room, recording process data and the inventory and waiting between each step, and separating value adding time from total lead time. The current state map is built from observation. Analysis follows: identifying the constraint, the batching and the information flow that drives the delays. A future state map is designed with flow, pull and levelling. The course closes on the implementation plan that turns a map into a sequence of changes.
Course objectives
- Select a product or service family worth mapping
- Walk the flow and record data at source rather than from a meeting room
- Capture inventory, waiting and information flow between steps
- Separate value adding time from total lead time
- Identify the constraint, batching and information delays
- Design a future state using flow, pull and levelling
- Convert the future state into a sequenced implementation plan
Who should attend
