Tyre Management and Cost per Kilometre

Tyres are usually the second largest running cost in a fleet and the one most often managed by replacing whatever failed, which hides the fact that most tyres are removed early for reasons nobody recorded. This course makes the cost visible. Delegates work through tyre construction and the markings that describe load, speed and application, and the fitment errors that follow from ignoring them. Inflation pressure is treated as the dominant variable, covering under inflation damage, heat build up and the checking regime that actually happens rather than the one in the policy. Wear patterns are read as evidence of mechanical faults, linking tyre condition back to alignment, suspension and driver behaviour. Rotation and position policy follow. Retreading is covered, including casing management and when a casing is worth saving. Damage assessment and warranty claims are addressed. Tyre records and cost per kilometre calculation are covered as the management tool. Storage and handling are addressed. The course closes on tyre safety, on inflation cage use and on selecting a supply arrangement.
