Power and ElectricalThermal Power Plant Troubleshooting
In a thermal plant the symptom and the cause are frequently in different systems, and an operator chasing the symptom loses hours the plant cannot spare. This course builds the cross system diagnostic method. Delegates work through the main systems and their interactions, then through the characteristic problems of each: boiler and combustion, steam and water circuits, turbine and condenser, and the electrical and control systems that tie them together. Vacuum loss, tube leaks, vibration, poor heat rate and repeated trips are each traced from symptom to root cause. The course uses real operating data and closes on preventing recurrence rather than restoring output.
Course objectives
- Map the main plant systems and their interactions
- Trace a symptom across system boundaries to its cause
- Diagnose boiler, combustion and steam circuit problems
- Diagnose turbine, condenser and vacuum problems
- Investigate repeated trips and their common causes
- Use operating data and trends to locate a developing fault
- Address root cause rather than restoring output and moving on
Who should attend
