Textile Effluent Treatment and Cleaner Production

Textile effluent is coloured, salty, alkaline and variable through the day, which defeats treatment plants designed for an average that never actually arrives. This course works from the real load. Delegates work through the effluent each wet process contributes, since desizing, scouring, bleaching, dyeing and finishing produce very different streams. Segregation at source is covered as the intervention that changes everything downstream. Equalisation and neutralisation follow. Colour removal is addressed specifically, including coagulation, adsorption and oxidation, and why biological treatment alone rarely removes reactive dye colour. Biological treatment for the organic load is covered. Salinity and total dissolved solids are addressed honestly, including the limits of conventional treatment. Sludge handling follows. Cleaner production is treated as the cheaper route: recipe optimisation, liquor ratio reduction, water reuse and heat recovery. The course closes on discharge consent compliance and on the cost per cubic metre treated.
