Spares inventory is a large amount of capital sitting still, and it is almost always simultaneously too big and missing the part needed at three in the morning. This course covers fixing both. Delegates work through criticality assessment and the consequence of not having a part, demand characterisation for slow moving and intermittent items where standard formulas fail, and stocking policy including holding, sharing and supplier held stock. Insurance spares and their justification are covered. Obsolescence, shelf life and preservation follow. Data quality is treated as the foundation, since duplicate and mis specified records defeat everything else. The course closes on disposal of stock nobody will ever use.
