Ship Chartering, Laytime and Demurrage

Chartering commits an organisation to daily costs that accrue whether cargo moves or not, and laytime and demurrage disputes turn on document wording and timing recorded at the berth. This course covers both. Delegates work through charter party types and what each allocates, the main clauses governing the voyage, and freight, hire and payment structures. Laytime is covered in detail: when it commences, what interrupts it, the notice of readiness and the statement of facts that evidences it all. Demurrage and despatch calculation are worked through on real port documents, and the course closes on the claims and time bars that decide most disputes.
