SAP Business Warehouse and Data Modelling

A warehouse model built to answer today's report becomes the constraint on every question asked afterwards, and remodelling later costs far more than modelling carefully now. This course concentrates on the modelling decisions. Delegates work through the layered architecture and what each layer is for, resisting the shortcut of reporting straight off staged data. Extraction from source systems is covered, including standard extractors, delta handling and what happens when a delta breaks. InfoObjects, master data and the difference between an attribute and a characteristic follow. Data store objects and composite providers are addressed, along with the modelling choice between them. Transformations, routines and the logic best kept out of them are covered. Query design follows, including variables, restricted and calculated key figures and the design decisions that make a query slow. Authorisation on reporting data is addressed. The course closes on load monitoring, reprocessing and warehouse housekeeping.
