
Manufacturing and ProductionQuality Control for Chemical and Consumer Products
A consumer product is judged by someone who will never see a certificate of analysis, which means quality control has to protect properties the customer notices as well as the ones the specification lists. This course covers both. Delegates work through specification setting, distinguishing the parameters that are genuinely critical from the ones inherited from a template. Sampling is addressed for batch products, including where in a vessel a representative sample comes from. Physical testing follows across viscosity, density, pH, particle size and colour, with the method detail that decides whether two laboratories agree. Microbiological testing is covered for water based products, including limits and challenge testing. Stability and shelf life testing are addressed. Control charts and the difference between a specification limit and a control limit are covered. Out of specification handling follows, including retest rules and batch disposition. Retained samples and traceability are addressed. The course closes on complaint investigation and on feeding quality data back into production.
