Project Scheduling Software Practice

Scheduling software produces a plausible looking schedule from almost any input, which is why so many programmes are technically valid and practically meaningless. This course covers building one that can be trusted. Delegates work through the work breakdown structure and activity definition before anything is typed, durations, relationships and the lags that hide poor logic, and the critical path and why it moves. Calendars, constraints and the difference between a constraint and a deadline are covered, since hard constraints quietly break a schedule's logic. Resource assignment and levelling follow. Baselines, progress update and earned value reporting from the tool are addressed. The course closes on schedule quality checks and on reading somebody else's programme critically.
