Pipeline Operations and Maintenance Management

This course covers the operational and maintenance disciplines needed to run transmission and distribution pipelines safely and reliably across water, fuel, and gas networks. Delegates examine integrity monitoring, leak detection, cathodic protection, and maintenance scheduling for buried and above-ground pipeline assets. The course draws on African utility and pipeline operator experience to address right-of-way management and community interface challenges.

Course objectives

  • Describe the key components and failure modes of pipeline systems
  • Apply pipeline integrity monitoring and in-line inspection techniques
  • Explain leak detection methods and emergency response procedures
  • Manage cathodic protection and corrosion control programmes
  • Plan routine and shutdown maintenance activities for pipeline networks

Who should attend

  • Pipeline operations and maintenance engineers
  • Utility and network maintenance managers
  • Integrity and corrosion engineers
  • Field supervisors responsible for pipeline right-of-way
  • Technical staff in water, fuel, and gas transmission companies
