Next Generation Connectivity for Enterprise

Connectivity decisions now sit alongside power as a constraint on where an operation can be run and what it can do there, and the options have multiplied to include private cellular networks and satellite constellations that did not exist commercially a few years ago. This course covers choosing between them. Delegates work through the technologies available including fibre, fixed wireless, cellular generations, private networks and low earth orbit satellite, and the characteristics that matter: capacity, latency, coverage, reliability and cost. Private cellular for industrial sites is covered in detail. Redundancy and failover design follow. Spectrum, licensing and regulatory constraints are addressed. The course closes on procurement and on holding a provider to a service level.

Course objectives

  • Compare fibre, fixed wireless, cellular, private network and satellite options
  • Assess capacity, latency, coverage, reliability and cost for a site
  • Evaluate private cellular for an industrial or campus site
  • Design redundancy and failover across providers
  • Navigate spectrum, licensing and regulatory constraints
  • Procure connectivity and negotiate a service level
  • Hold a provider to the service level agreed

Who should attend

  • IT and network managers
  • Operational technology staff at remote sites
  • Facilities and infrastructure planners
  • Procurement staff buying connectivity
  • Engineers designing site infrastructure
