Mining and MineralsMineral Rights, Licensing and Mining Agreements
A mining project rests on a title that a government granted and can condition, suspend or cancel, and on agreements negotiated when the parties knew least about the deposit. This course covers securing and holding both. Delegates work through mineral tenure systems in African jurisdictions, the licence progression from prospecting through exploration to mining and the obligations attaching to each, and ground maintenance including work commitments and renewals. Fiscal and royalty terms are covered. Joint venture, farm in and offtake agreements follow, with the clauses that matter most. The course closes on community and surface rights, on state participation, and on the disputes that most often arise.
