Health, Safety and SecurityMachine Guarding and Safe Use of Work Equipment
Machinery injuries happen at the point where somebody needed access and the guard was in the way, which makes guard design a maintainability question as much as a safety one. This course covers both. Delegates work through mechanical hazards and the injury mechanisms behind them, guard types from fixed through interlocked to sensing devices, and the selection of a guard appropriate to the access frequency required. Safety related control systems and interlock integrity are covered. Inspection, maintenance and the defeated guard problem are addressed directly. Equipment selection, installation and commissioning follow. The course closes on operator training, on setting and cleaning tasks, and on investigating a machinery injury.
