Lubricant Blending and Grease Manufacturing

A blending plant buys base oil and additive and sells a specification, so its entire value sits in getting the ratio right and not contaminating the batch between products. This course covers running one. Delegates work through base oil groups and the properties each brings, including viscosity index and volatility. Additive chemistry is covered by function: detergents, dispersants, anti wear, viscosity modifiers and antioxidants, and the reason a finished oil cannot simply be improved by adding more. Blending operations follow, covering in line and batch blending, heating, agitation and homogeneity verification. Contamination control between grades is treated directly, since cross contamination is the most common cause of an off specification batch. Grease manufacture is covered, including soap thickener systems, the kettle process and consistency measurement. Testing follows across viscosity, flash point, pour point, total base number and dropping point. Filling, packaging and labelling are addressed. The course closes on specification approvals and on batch traceability.
