Load Shedding, Demand Side Management and Energy Security

Scheduled supply interruption is a normal operating condition across much of this region, and organisations that treat each event as a surprise pay for it in damaged equipment, lost production and fuel bought at the worst moment. This course covers planning for it. Delegates work through the reasons load shedding occurs and how schedules and stages are determined, the load audit that establishes what a site actually needs to keep running, and the essential, non essential and deferrable classification behind any sensible response. Backup generation and its sizing, fuel logistics and maintenance are covered. Uninterruptible supply, storage and solar are compared on cost and role. Demand side management, tariffs and load shifting follow. The course closes on restart sequencing and on the equipment damage that occurs at restoration.
