Finance and TreasuryIslamic Finance Principles and Products
Islamic finance serves a growing market across East, West and Southern Africa, and it is frequently explained either as conventional finance with different labels or as something no conventional banker can understand, both of which are wrong. This course explains it as it works. Delegates work through the underlying prohibitions and the principles that follow from them, and the core contracts including cost plus sale, leasing, partnership, manufacture and agency, with what each is actually used for. Deposit and investment account structures are covered. Sukuk and capital market instruments follow. Governance and the role of a supervisory board are addressed, along with accounting and regulatory treatment. The course closes on the comparison with conventional products a customer will actually make.
