Introduction to Method Validation

Validation demonstrates that a method does what the laboratory says it does, for the samples it will actually see. This course covers the practice. Delegates work through the validation parameters and what each one answers, including selectivity, linearity and range, accuracy and trueness, precision under repeatability and intermediate conditions, limits of detection and quantitation, and robustness. The distinction between validation and verification of a standard method is made clear, since laboratories routinely do more work than needed for the latter and less than needed for the former. The course closes on the validation plan and report, and on the decision of when a change to a method requires revalidation.
