Logistics and Supply Chain

Inbound Logistics Management

Inbound logistics is where a production plan either gets the materials it assumed or does not, and it is routinely managed less rigorously than the outbound side. This course corrects that. Delegates work through supplier scheduling and call off, inbound transport control including who pays and therefore who plans, and receiving capacity as a constraint that outbound teams rarely see. Lead time variability and the buffer it forces are analysed with real data. Supplier collaboration, vendor managed inventory and consignment stock are covered as alternatives to holding everything yourself. The course draws on mining and heavy industry, where inbound failure stops production immediately.
