Power and ElectricalHigh Voltage Switching and Operating Authorisation
Switching errors kill people and destroy plant, and they are made by competent staff working from an instruction that was ambiguous or a diagram that was out of date. This course covers the discipline that prevents that. Delegates work through the operating authorisation structure and what a person is authorised to do at each level, network diagrams and the discipline of keeping them current, and switching schedule preparation and the independent check before it is issued. Isolation, earthing and proving dead are covered in full. Permits to work, sanctions for test and their interaction with the switching programme follow. Emergency and abnormal switching are addressed. The course closes on incident investigation and on restoring after an error.
