Green Hydrogen Production and Applications

Several African countries are being positioned as green hydrogen exporters on the strength of solar and wind resources, and the engineering reality is that hydrogen is difficult to make efficiently, difficult to store and difficult to move. This course covers that reality. Delegates work through electrolysis technologies and their efficiency, water requirements and the desalination often needed to meet them, and the coupling of intermittent renewable supply to an electrolyser that prefers steady operation. Storage, compression and liquefaction are covered with their energy penalties. Ammonia and other carriers follow, since hydrogen is rarely exported as hydrogen. Safety receives full attention. The course closes on offtake, certification and the economics that decide whether a project proceeds.
