Mining and MineralsGold Processing: Leaching, Adsorption and Elution
Gold recovery turns on cyanide chemistry, carbon behaviour and a security regime around a product small enough to conceal, and losses can be metallurgical or they can be theft. This course covers the whole plant. Delegates work through ore amenability and the pretreatment that refractory ores require, leaching chemistry including cyanide, oxygen and lime addition, and the carbon in pulp and carbon in leach circuits. Elution, electrowinning and smelting follow. Carbon management, fouling and regeneration are covered practically. Cyanide handling, detoxification and the international code are addressed. The course closes on metallurgical accounting, security and reconciling gold called for against gold produced.
Course objectives
- Assess ore amenability and specify pretreatment for refractory ores
- Control leaching chemistry including cyanide, oxygen and lime
- Operate carbon in pulp and carbon in leach circuits
- Run elution, electrowinning and smelting
