Garment Cutting Room Operations and Fabric Utilisation

Fabric is the largest cost in a garment and the cutting room is the only place it can still be saved, yet it is often run as a preparation step rather than as the profit centre it is. This course treats it as the latter. Delegates work through fabric inspection and the four point system, since cutting around a fault costs more than rejecting the roll. Shrinkage testing and relaxation before spreading are covered. Marker making is addressed in detail, including marker efficiency, grain lines, one way and two way layouts and the utilisation percentage that decides margin. Spreading methods and ply height follow, with the faults each introduces. Cutting equipment is covered across straight knife, band knife and automated cutters. Bundling, ticketing and traceability are addressed. Fusing and its control follow. Cut part quality and audit are covered. The course closes on measuring utilisation honestly and on the losses hidden in end bits and remnants.
