Fire safety is bought as equipment and delivered as a certificate, while the things that decide an outcome are whether people recognise an alarm, know the route, and leave immediately rather than finishing what they were doing. This course covers both the systems and the response. Delegates work through fire behaviour and the growth rate that determines how much time is actually available, fire risk assessment and the ignition sources and fuel loads a site carries, and prevention through housekeeping, hot work and electrical condition. Detection technology is covered with what each type suits and its false alarm behaviour. Alarm, suppression and compartmentation follow. Evacuation planning, drills and assisting people who cannot use stairs are addressed. The course closes on maintenance, testing and the false alarm problem that teaches people to ignore alarms.
