Environmental Law, Permitting and Compliance

Environmental authorisation is the step that most often delays an industrial or mining project, and the delay is usually caused by an application that was incomplete or a process step taken out of order. This course covers getting it right. Delegates work through the statutory framework and the activities that trigger authorisation, impact assessment process and the specialist studies it requires, and public participation as a legal requirement with consequences for defects. Permit conditions and the compliance obligations they create are covered. Waste, water use and emission licensing follow. Monitoring, reporting and inspection are addressed. The course closes on enforcement, directives and the personal liability of directors and managers.
