Health, Safety and SecurityElectrical Safety in the Workplace
Electrical incidents are comparatively rare and disproportionately severe, and most happen during work that somebody judged too small to warrant the full procedure. This course covers the safety system that prevents them. Delegates work through the hazards of shock and arc flash and how each injures, risk assessment and the boundaries it establishes, and safe working practice including isolation, locking, testing for dead and earthing. Personal protective equipment is covered as the last defence rather than the first control. Competence, authorisation and the permit to work system are treated as the structure that makes the practice reliable, and the course closes on emergency response, rescue and incident investigation.

- Carry out an electrical risk assessment and establish working boundaries
