Cybersecurity and ITDevOps and Continuous Delivery
Software that is built well and released badly fails in the same way as software that was built badly, and the release process is usually where an organisation's risk actually sits. This course covers reducing it. Delegates work through version control practice and the branching strategy that determines how easily work merges, continuous integration and the build that must stay fast enough to be run on every change, and automated testing at the levels that catch different defects. Deployment automation follows, including environments and configuration that differ safely. Release strategies covering blue green, canary and feature flags are covered, along with rollback that actually works. Monitoring and incident feedback are addressed. The course closes on culture, on the handoff between build and run, and on measuring delivery performance.
Course objectives
- Choose a branching strategy suited to the team's size and cadence
- Build continuous integration that stays fast enough to run every change
- Automate testing at the levels that catch different defects
- Automate deployment with safely differing environment configuration
- Apply blue green, canary and feature flag release strategies
- Make rollback a tested capability rather than an assumption
- Measure delivery performance and close the loop from incidents
