Cosmetics and Personal Care Product Manufacturing

Personal care products are applied to skin, sold on how they feel and regulated on what they may claim, so a formulation has to satisfy chemistry, sensory expectation and a regulator at the same time. This course covers all three. Delegates work through emulsion science in practical terms: oil in water and water in oil systems, emulsifier selection, and the phase behaviour that decides whether a cream separates in a warehouse. Manufacturing follows, covering phase preparation, heating, homogenisation and the cooling profile that sets texture. Preservation is treated seriously, including preservative systems, challenge testing and why an underpreserved product is a health risk rather than a quality problem. Water quality and plant hygiene are addressed. Surfactant based products, shampoos and washes, are covered. Actives, claims substantiation and stability follow. Packaging compatibility is addressed. Regulatory requirements including ingredient listing and restricted substances are covered. The course closes on batch records, on scale up and on complaint investigation.
