Petroleum GeoscienceCore Analysis and Special Core Analysis
Core is the only direct sample of the reservoir most companies ever hold, and it is expensive enough that a badly planned coring run or a poorly preserved barrel wastes a large share of a well budget. Delegates begin with coring objectives, core handling, preservation and plug selection. Routine analysis covers porosity, grain density, permeability and the Klinkenberg correction, plus the pitfalls that make laboratory values differ from in situ ones. Special core analysis follows: wettability, capillary pressure by mercury injection, porous plate and centrifuge, relative permeability by steady and unsteady state methods, and electrical properties for the cementation and saturation exponents. Delegates leave able to design a core programme, audit laboratory reports and pass reliable data to petrophysicists and reservoir engineers.
