Combating Risk and Fraud in Procurement

Procurement concentrates opportunity, discretion and money, which is why it accounts for a large share of internal fraud. This course covers detecting and preventing it. Delegates work through the common schemes and what each looks like in the data: bid rigging and collusion, split purchases beneath an approval threshold, shell and related party suppliers, invoice and price manipulation, and change orders that quietly rebuild a contract after award. Red flag analysis is applied to real procurement data, and the second half covers the controls that make schemes harder to run, including separation of duties, supplier due diligence, and the audit and investigation response when something is found.
