Logistics and Supply Chain

Cold Chain and Perishable Goods Logistics Management

Moving vaccines, fresh produce and temperature sensitive pharmaceuticals across variable African infrastructure demands rigorous temperature control and documentation from farm or factory to final destination. This course covers cold chain design, monitoring technology and regulatory compliance, with particular attention to last mile distribution in areas with unreliable power supply. Participants work through a case study on reducing spoilage losses across a regional distribution network.

Course objectives

  • Design a cold chain network that maintains product integrity from origin to point of use
  • Select temperature monitoring and data logging technology appropriate to the product and route
  • Apply regulatory and quality standards relevant to pharmaceutical and food cold chains
  • Manage last mile cold chain distribution in areas with unreliable power or road infrastructure
  • Quantify and reduce spoilage and wastage losses across the cold chain network

Who should attend

  • Cold chain and pharmaceutical logistics managers
  • Agribusiness and fresh produce supply chain professionals
  • Warehouse managers handling temperature sensitive goods
  • Quality assurance managers in food and pharma distribution
  • Distribution and last mile delivery coordinators
