Moving data platforms to the cloud is usually justified on cost and delivers on flexibility instead, sometimes at higher cost, because consumption pricing rewards discipline that most organisations discover late. This course covers doing it with the numbers open. Delegates work through cloud data platform architectures and the storage and compute separation behind them, migration approaches from lift and shift through to rebuild, and the assessment that decides which workload gets which treatment. Cost modelling and consumption control are covered in detail. Security, residency and the regulatory questions attaching to data location follow. The course closes on cutover, parallel running and decommissioning the system you migrated from.
