Storage, Handling and Disposal of Chemical Substances

Most laboratory and plant chemical incidents involve substances that were stored or mixed incorrectly rather than used incorrectly. This course covers the whole custody chain. Delegates work through classification and labelling under the globally harmonised system, reading a safety data sheet for the information that actually governs handling, and segregation and storage compatibility, which is where the serious errors occur. Handling, transfer and personal protective equipment selection are covered, along with spill response and the first minutes of an exposure. Waste receives full treatment, including classification, segregation, contractor selection and the duty of care that follows waste off site.
