Petroleum GeoscienceCased Hole, Cement Evaluation and Production Logging
Once casing is set the questions change: is the cement isolating zones, where is water coming from, and has saturation moved since the well was drilled. Cased hole tools answer them, provided the surveys are run under the right conditions and read with care. Delegates begin with cement bond and variable density logs, then ultrasonic imagers, learning to tell a good bond from microannulus and channelling. Pulsed neutron capture and carbon oxygen logging follow for saturation monitoring behind pipe. Production logging takes the second half: spinners, temperature, fluid density, capacitance and holdup tools, and multiphase flow interpretation in deviated wells. Casing integrity and corrosion logging close the programme. Delegates leave able to specify a cased hole job, interpret the results and recommend remedial work such as cement squeezes or water shut off.
